About the Institution:

In the 19th century, various social and political changes were taking place in India, especially during later half of British rule.  These movements have tremendous influence in the development of modern Indian societies.  However, Marathwada region of Maharashtra being under the domain of Nizam of Hyderabad till 17th September 1948 did not enjoy any of these benefits thus, the people of the region were not benefited by the social and democratic freedom and remained unprivileged and marginalised as comparatively other regions of Maharashtra and rest of India.  The Socio – Political benefits have started being accured only after September 1948.  Therefore, special efforts are required to guide the people of the area to enlighten them in these aspects.

Keeping this view in mind, Shri Sevadas Shikshan Prasarak Mandal has Established Jawaharlal Nehru College of Social Work in 1992 in Nanded. With Masters degree course in Social Work and in 1994 college introduced Bachelor degree course in Social Work with intake capacity of sixty students.  It is a single faculty affiliated Social work college offering specialization as Labour Welfare and Personnel Management, Family and Child Welfare and Rural Development.  The institution is located in semi-urban area in 2.00 acres of land.

Apart from this institution the management of the institution Shri Sevadas Shikshan Prasarak Mandal also runs academic colleges, schools, Ashram schools, Balgrams, Destitute children homes, Handicapped schools etc. for the society and weaker sections specially.

Physio graphically the second holy city of Sikhs, is situated on the bank of Godavari river near boundaries of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and has inputs of all these cultures.  It is 260 km.  from Hyderabad, capital of Andhra Pradesh by road and rail, and 260 km. from Aurangabad, the regional head quarter of  Marathwada region.  It is 750 km. from Mumbai capital of Maharashtra.  Professional Social Work is a western concept and has evolved as a professional and academic discipline with a perspective philosophy and respective mission, for the sustainable development of people and the region.

The institution is trying to meet the reeds of marginalised, unprivileged, unemployed, labour, women, youth, Dalits, tribal, older Persons, persons living specially in remote areas of Nanded district as Kinwat tahsil of Nanded district is already declared as schedule tribe community area particularly institution is trying to focus their attention on their special needs.

The college is fully grant in aid since June 1997 by department of Social justice, cultural affairs and Special Assistance department of Government of Maharashtra.  Before 1997 all the responsibility of financial expenditure were shouldered by the management alone and recently on 15th July 2005 institution has get U.G.C. recognition under 2F

The institution receives grant from Govt. of Maharashtra in the year 2001 though the institution gets grant – in – aid status in the year 1997.  And recently institution has got U.G.C. recognition under 12 B of the UGC Act.1956 under the head non government colleges teaching upto masters degree. For the academic growth and development.

The institution is trying to achieve the aims of the institution keeping in view the mission of the institution.

The institution has developed perspective and mission statement the mission of the institution is Pursuit of Attitude DevelopmentWith an approach to prepare qualified Social Work personnel and provide continuing education to students for Social work practice, research and to meet the goals of the profession.

This is to be achieved through class – room teaching learning, fieldwork practicum and research.

The institution is trying to achieve the aims of the institution keeping in view the mission of the institution.
